Frequently Asked Questions

Is using ACS-6 mandatory?

No. ACS-6 is a voluntary transparency framework. You choose whether to use it.

Does this detect AI-generated content?

No. ACS-6 does not detect anything. It only verifies what you explicitly declare.

Can I lie in the declaration?

Technically, yes. ACS-6 does not verify truthfulness. It verifies formal consistency. The value of the system depends on honest use.

What happens if I modify the document after generating the PTC?

The document will no longer validate. The hash will not match. This is by design: any change to the document invalidates the declaration.

Is my file stored or uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser. No files are uploaded, stored, or transmitted.

Who governs this standard?

ACS-6 is an open framework. Its specifications are public and can be reviewed independently. The Validator does not impose compliance or authority.

Can I use this for academic work?

Yes. ACS-6 can be used in any context where transparency about AI usage is relevant. However, institutions may have their own policies.

What if my institution requires a different format?

ACS-6 is not exclusive. You can use it alongside other requirements or formats.

Why use hashes instead of simpler methods?

Hashes provide a verifiable link between the declaration and the document content. They ensure that the document has not been altered after the declaration was made.

Is this free to use?

Yes. ACS-6 Validator is a public, non-commercial tool.
